Julie Sommer, MSOT, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist
Julie Sommer, MSOT, OTR/L is a pediatric occupational therapist at Island Therapy Solutions in St. Croix, where she has lived since 2008 with her husband and three sons. On St. Croix, she has provided services within the Department of Education, home healthcare, the Infants & Toddlers Program, and most recently in outpatient pediatrics. She has expertise in treating children from birth through high school with a variety of conditions, including neurological disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, premature birth, genetic conditions, Down Syndrome, oral motor & feeding concerns, coordination disorders, sensory processing difficulties, and developmental delays. She is excited to be conducting OT evaluations for children in St. Thomas.
Julie uses a family-centered approach to help children reach their potential for participating in activities at home and school and loves sharing resources about ways to incorporate occupational therapy techniques into daily routines. Prior to moving to St. Croix, she worked at Washington University in St. Louis, developed the occupational therapy program for Apple Valley Unified School District in southern California, and was part of the early childhood special education team at an integrated preschool in her hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.
